I was born on 05/20/63 in Fort Riley, KS, grew up in Hattiesburg, MS and now live in Ruston, LA. Married to wife Melanie and have two children Knute and Susan. Employed by Mason's Plywood as a manager which requires me to work 60 + hours a week.

I started weight training to get bigger for sports. I played football and track at Hattiesburg High and Pearl River Community College in Mississippi. I have been weight training for 24 years and powerlifting for 20 years. I have lifted in gym meets to World Championships. Really got interested in powerlifting in late 70's and early 80's by watching TV (Sports World and Wide World of Sports). In addition, I was able to watch the 1979 Seniors in Bay St. Louis, MS with the likes of Larry Pacifico, Mike Bridges, and Bill Kazman.

I train 4 days a week 1 ½ to 2 hours a workout. I use Dual Quad Suits, Signature Series Wraps, Ultra Belt and Safe Squat Shoes. I have never had a coach but I have the good fortunate to compete against and watch some all time great lifters, such as Kazmaier, Coan, Pacifico, Ladnier and Bell to name a few. In addition, I have great training partners over the years (Bill Sims, Wade Hooper, Dave Grapusa and Keith Taylor), there are many more that have helped me over the years. Therefore, my knowledge has come by trial and error, training partners and competitors. So always keep heads up for that one thing that brings that total up.

I have won championships at State, Regional, and National levels under USPF, USAPL, and IPF. I have competed in 2 IPF World Championships in 1995 (Finland) and 1998 (Ukraine). The 1995 USA Team we won the Team Championship.

Politics

I was a member of USPF for almost 20 years and USAPL the past 2 years. I see the IPF as the leading governing body of our sport. If you want to be a World Champion you must go USAPL & IPF with 30 countries and over 200 lifters competing it is truly a World Championship.
